The seven Liberal-Democratic MPs who decided to take part in the formation of a parliamentary majority to support the investiture of the Cabinet that will be proposed by the nominee for premiership Pavel Filip put forward a number of conditions for giving a vote of confidence to the future Government. Ion Balan, one of the seven lawmakers, after a meeting with the candidate said that he and his colleagues insist that the government program should include the requirements announced earlier by the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group, IPN reports.
“We had the first meeting with the candidate and, in the name of the group of MPs of the PLDM, I confirm that we do not renounce the objectives that were formulated earlier by the group. We will insist that these should be included in the government program and implemented. The requirements are: to implement the measures stipulated in the Association Agreement with the EU, to do the justice sector reform and depoliticize the law enforcement institutions, to resolve the financial-banking crisis that led to a very serious state in the country and to ensure social protection measures for the people,” said the MP.
Ion Balan noted that in the meeting they reiterated these requirements and asked that they should be included in the government program. “Today, there are seven Liberal-Democrats who are ready to support the future Government in the mentioned conditions,” he stated.
Ion Balan also said that they haven’t yet discussed the distribution of seats in the future Cabinet, but such discussions will take place the coming days.
Earlier today, Pavel Filip met with the 14 former Communist who created the Social-Democratic Platform in Parliament and with representatives of the Liberal parliamentary group. No statements for the press were made after the meeting with the Liberals. The nominee is to also meet with Democratic MPs.
