Set off for Europe on plastic bottles
Three young persons, Moldovan citizens, were caught by the border guards of Romania’s Vaslui County, while attempting to cross the Prut River on a boat made of plastic bottles. They intended to reach Italy, according to the Romanian media.
The police officers of the Husi Border Police Office, spotted on the Romanian bank of Prut three young men, aged 25 to 29, from Moldova, who had with them a map of Romania and Europe, where they marked their route to Italy.
Following investigations, the police officers found a boat improvised from 2-litre empty PET bottles and polystyrene, which they used to cross illegally the Romania-Moldova border.
They said that they crossed the Prut River to find jobs in Romania and intended to continue their travel toward Italy after earning enough many. Those three Moldovan citizens were initiated penal proceedings against for entering Romania by illegally crossing the state border.
Only 12 days earlier, at the Moldova-Romania border the police officers arrested two teenagers, aged 15 and 17, residents of Vadul lui Isac village, Cahul raion who also set off for Europe only with a map of Romania.
