Service members who will take part in Red Square parade detached to Moscow

The 75 members of the Company of the Guard of Honor, who will take part in the military parade in the Red Square on June 24 on the occasion of the 75th adversary of the Victory over Nazi Germany, were detached to Moscow, IPN reports, quoting a Facebook posting by President Igor Dodon.

“As the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, I empowered division general Victor Gaiciuc, presidential adviser on national defense and security, secretary of the Supreme Security Council of Moldova, to transmit to our service members a safe travel message and the request to present with dignity our country at the Victory Parade, where many other countries will be represented,” wrote Igor Dodon.

“The grandparents of 23 of the 75 service members took part in the Great Patriotic War. Moldova’s participation in the festivities represents not only expression of solidarity with the countries with which we have a common history, but also a direct connection between generations, keeping of the memory of the heroism of our grandparents.”

He expressed his conviction that the Moldovan officers will show excellent military training, team spirit and strict discipline. “The National Army is one of the most important pillars of the independent state Republic of Moldova,” wrote President Dodon.

The ceremony to detach the group of service members was held at the Chisinau International Airport in the evening of June 13.
