Serious irregularities found in 7 kindergartens in Chisinau
The inspectors of the Agency for Consumer’s Protection (APC) found a series of irregularities in the buying of foods in 7 kindergartens in Chisinau municipality, Info-Prim Neo reports.
ANP communicates that inspections in the kindergartens in Botanica and Rascani sectors, Truseni commune, Vatra, Sangera, Codru and Durlesti towns found that the institutions bought other products than those approved and stipulated in the procurement contracts. For example, what in the papers was 50% fat cheese was in fact a cheese product with vegetable fats. Instead of condensed milk and refined oil, the kindergartens bought milk products and crude oil. The quality of poultry was unsatisfactory as well as there was no date of production and shelf life on the packages. The institutions also lacked conformity certificates and sanitary-veterinary certificates.
Upon the examination of procurement contracts, the inspectors found that the prices of many products were inflated. For example, sugar was bought at 14.95 lei a kilo, while the market price was 12.50 to 13.00 lei. In many kindergartens, the standard menu approved by competent institutions was respected, as there weren’t enough fruits and vegetables. The daily menu also lacked meat, fish and eggs. In some cases, sunflower oil was used past its shelf life.
The inspectors have written reports about the found irregularities and issued notices for the removal of these irregularities. The Agency will also inspect the companies that provide foods for the kindergartens in question.
Head of the municipal division for education, youth and sport Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb told Info-Prim Neo that she wasn’t aware of these inspections and their results, but that all the necessary measures would be taken. If it is proved that there are irregularities, those responsible will be punished.
