Serious financial irregularities identified at Air Moldova

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said that serious financial irregularities were detected following an unplanned inspection at Air Moldova airline. According to the institution, these can seriously affect the operator’s functionality and the safety of the planned air operations. The CAA requested the company to suspend the sale of tickets to destinations for which there is no correspondingly approved schedule or authorization for exploiting the regular route, IPN reports.

Following the inspection, the air operator was added to Risk Group 4 and a risk management process needs to be therefore started immediately given the financial stability problems and insolvency risks faced by the airline.

The AAC issued Air Moldova with a prescription, demanding that this should work out a corrective action plan for remedying the precarious financial situation and present it to the Authority for approval. The airline was also asked to ensure compliance with the national normative framework on the certification requirements.

According to information that appeared in social media, Air Moldova launched a campaign to promote the sale of plane tickets for the 2023 warm season in the absence of a schedule approved by the ACC and, for some of the destinations, in the absence of authorizations for exploiting regular routes.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) requested the responsible institutions to determine all the circumstances and, eventually, to hold accountable the persons to blame for the violations.
