Sergiu Puscuta: Fiscal reform will lead to price decreases

The fiscal reform that was recently adopted by Parliament will lead to lower production costs and, respectively, to decreases in the prices of different products, head of the State Tax Inspectorate Sergiu Puscuta stated in the talk show “Reply” on Prim TV channel, IPN reports.

Sergiu Puscuta said the reform is much wider. The whitening of the black market means higher pensions for employees in the future, compared with the current payments. The reform was done so that no category of salary earners is affected. “Everyone stands to gain. Someone more, while someone less,” stated the functionary.

According to him, the reform will lead to declines in production costs and, respectively, to decreases in the prices of different products. “The national goods will become more competitive than the imported goods with these 5% to the salary fund. The national businesses could reduce prices so as to become more competitive on the domestic market and, why not, on the foreign market,” noted Sergiu Puscuta.

Economic expert Gabriela Cuneva said the package of tax initiatives should be analyzed as a set, not by separate chapters. These measures have been long awaited, but their capacity to diminish the underground economy is open to question as many companies have worked unofficially for a long period of time. The reform concerning capital amnesty should be analyzed in detail and more discussions should be held on the issue.

Businessman Victor Gaina said the fiscal reform is not so extensively welcomed by the business community given that it envisions particular defective practices. However, the reduction in fiscal pressure is a plus for any business.
