After the visit paid to Chisinau by European officials, who attended the negotiations between the PLDM, PDM and PL, there are preconditions for the government alliance to be formed, the director of the Resource Center for Human Rights (CREDO) Sergiu Ostaf said in the talk show “Pahomi” on Realitatea TV channel, IPN reports.

According to Ostaf, after the negotiations attended by the Europeans, the behavior of the three leaders of the Moldovan pro-European parties has changed. “The behavior of Mihai Ghimpu as well as of Vlad Filat and Marian Lupu changed. I think that if not until Wednesday, in the near future Ghimpu will anyway vote for the alliance,” he stated.

Ostaf considers the formation of the pro-European alliance will be due to the pressure exerted from outside to a certain extent. “Now Ghimpu’s behavior is monitored not only by the Moldovan voters, but also by a large European party and this is not a joke,” he said.

The CREDO director also said that the Liberals’ condition to name a person from abroad to the post of Moldova’s prosecutor general is not welcome. “First of all, the term in office of the current prosecutor general hasn’t expired and there are no reasons for him to resign. Secondly, it’s unreal to amend now the Constitution and appoint a foreigner to the post of prosecutor general. Thirdly, no EU prosecutor who respects himself will accept this post as long as there are no guarantees of the independence of the prosecution service in Moldova,” he stated.

At the same time, Ostaf believes the Liberals’ proposal to distribute the ministries is reasonable. “I think it is a justified political solution. Even if the Liberals polled a fewer number of votes, they will anyway have to vote for bills together with the MPs of the PLDM and PDM and to support them in the government process,” he said.
