The Russian Federation implemented in Moldova an expansion strategy similar to that applied in Georgia. It is aimed at dominating the information area, discrediting the public institutions, splitting society and building negative images amid crises, Sergiu Ostaf, director of the Resource Center for Human Rights (CReDO), said in the program “Pahomi” on Realitatea TV channel, IPN reports.

“One of the components of the strategy was successful and the image concerning the European integration was affected. Both in the Republic of Moldova and in Georgia, the confidence in the European integration prospects decreased. It’s not a joke when polls show that over 60% of the population opposes the European integration,” stated Sergiu Ostaf.

The domination of the information area is another aspect of the expansion policy pursued by Russia in Moldova and Georgia. “Russia, through the agency of the Russian TV channels, radio channels and social networking sites, managed to build a favorable image before most of the people in Moldova and Georgia. Russia is favored in relation to Ukraine as regards the annexation of Crimea. This is how a large part of those who live in the Republic of Moldova or Georgia were determined to believe,” said the CReDO director.

Referindu-se la lipsa de credibilitate în instituţiile statului, Sergiu Ostaf a menţionat că prin strategia sa, Kremlinul a reuşit să scoată în evidenţă elementul oligarhic. „Sondajele arată că în Republica Moldova doar 10% au încredere în instituţiile statului. Lipsa credibilităţii în aceste instituţii este justificată prin faptul că anumiţi oligarhi deţin controlul asupra lor”, a declarat directorul Centrului..

Sergiu Ostaf susţine că la ordinul Kremlinului anumiţi experţi analizează punctele vulnerabile şi problemele cu care se confruntă fiecare ţară, pentru a le folosi ulterior în politicile lor de expansiune.
