Sergiu Mocanu will be under arrest for another 25 days

The Buiucani district court Friday decided to extend the arrest warrant for Sergiu Mocanu, the leader of the “People’s Action” movement, for 25 days over organization of public disorder accusations, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the movement. The decision was passed after the Buiucani district court examined the accusations made by the General Prosecutor’s Office against Sergiu Mocanu. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the defendant’s lawyer Ion Dron said that initially Sergiu Mocanu was suspected of attempt to usurp state power and of organizing public disorder, but then they opened another legal case, saying that Sergiu Mocanu intended to leave the country as he was also citizen of another state. “The prosecutor made reference to no evidence,” the lawyer said. On April 8 at about 10.30, Sergiu Mocanu was taken by force from the street by ten persons in civvies, who said they were police officers. Several hours later, he was remanded in custody for 72 hours at the Special Services Department of the Ministry of the Interior.
