The initiator of the “Antimafia” Movement Sergiu Mocanu will head the list of candidates of the Party for Nation and Country (PpNT) in the November early parliamentary elections. The list will also include businessmen who supported Sergiu Mocanu in the antimafia campaign, including Viorel Topa, Info-Prim Neo reports. The stated adversaries of the PpNT in the election campaign will be the PCRM and PDM, which, according to Sergiu Mocanu, are backed by businessman Vlad Plahotniuc. The former presidential adviser and his allies consider Plahotniuc is the “head of the Moldovan mafia”. In a news conference on Thursday, PpNT president Nicolae Utica said the decision to take part in the elections together with the “Antimafia” Movement was adopted unanimously in a meeting of the party's National Political Council. In the election campaign, Sergiu Mocanu will be also supported by the head of the Democratic Party's local organization in Causeni Sergiu Catanoi, who announced today he will defect from the party. Sergiu Mocanu stressed he will be backed by other members of the PDM who no longer subscribe to this party's principles owing to Marian Lupu' policy of obeying Moscow. On October 10, the “Antimafia” Movement and the PpNT will hold a large meeting involving representatives from all over the country. In the news conference, the head of the Democracy at Home Party Vasile Costiuc asked Nicolae Utica if it is true that he asked €50,000 from Sergiu Mocanu for writing him at the top of the list, as Mocanu did in the past. Nicolae Utica did not answer the question, while Sergiu Mocanu said it was a provocation and demanded that Vasile Costiuc leave the room. The Party for Nation and Country did not take part in the election campaigns for the April 5 and July 29 legislative elections. It threw its support to the Moldova Noastra Alliance.
