The politician Sergiu Mocanu says that his son, Roman Mocanu, will file a criminal complaint against Viorel Cernăuțeanu, the head of the General Police Inspectorate, whom he accuses of abuse of power. The complaint will be submitted to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.
In a press conference on Tuesday, Mocanu stated that his son, accused of parking illegally, was verbally assaulted and threatened by Cernăuțeanu. Roman was stopped in traffic by three police crews, who took him to the police inspectorate and kept him there for three hours, the politician added.
Sergiu Mocanu said that, in the afternoon of April 29, his son had his car parked on Vasile Alecsandri Street, near the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on a one-way street. The car was parked at a distance of 15 meters from the intersection, according to regulations. According to Sergiu Mocanu, there is court decision in a similar case which found that parking in that area is legal.
Sergiu Mocanu said that, when he found out that his son was taken by the police, he recommended him, as a father, to obey all the requirements, for fear of being detained, being at the same time shocked by what happened to him.
Sergiu Mocanu added that he always intervened when citizens were wronged, not only his son. For example, in 2013 he managed to save a citizen called Gheorghe Munteanu, who had a traffic conflict with prosecutor Garaba. In the same year, a month apart, he intervened for other citizens who were beaten by a criminal group headed by the Coptileț prosecutor. It’s just that, says the politician, those actions happened during the captured state. What is happening today is much more serious, because then at least the press in the Republic of Moldova was on the side of the citizens, but now it would give a good image to the chief of police.
“Roman Mocanu’s car was parked legally. The only one who parks illegally in this country is Viorel Cernăuțeanu, who parked his wife at the Presidency, he parked his interest in business, in real estate business, his interest in Trușeni, where there is a company that picks up cars around town. And, of course, that his interest was placed alongside Recean (the minister of the interior), who covers him in all the wrongdoings”, Sergiu Mocanu declared during the press conference.
