Sergiu Cioclea formally nominated for National Bank governor

The Parliament’s legal commission for appointments and immunities approved the nomination of Sergiu Cioclea for the post of governor of the National Bank of Moldova. The nominee was chosen by a special parliamentary group out of nine contenders, IPN reports.

The members of the commission approved of this candidate. In a meeting on March 9, they congratulated Sergiu Cioclea on winning the contest. Democratic MP Sergiu Sarbu said that it is for the first time in Moldova’s history that a candidate for National Bank governor was selected at a public contest.

In the same meeting, the legal commission approved the draft decision on the resignation of the governor and vice governor of the National Bank of Moldova Dorin Dragutanu and Marin Molosag. The two resigned last September.
