The Ministry of Education and Research on Friday awarded the top Moldovan athletes of 2021, IPN reports.

Canoeist Serghei Tarnovschi was designated as the best male athlete of the year for his Tokyo Olympics bronze medal. Wrestler Irina Rîngaci got the women’s award for her World and European champion’s titles. Their tutors, Nicolae Juravschi and Petru Chiperi, respectively, were named the best coaches of the year.

The national federations of wrestling, weightlifting and canoe became the best in their category.
