Serghei Marghiev reached the finals of the World Athletics Championships in London. The 24 year old hammer-thrower managed to qualify with a 75.18 meters result, ranking 9th in the final round, IPN reports.
Poland’s Wojciech Nowicki was top of the bunch with a 76.85 meters throw.
The finals are scheduled for Friday, August 11, in the evening. Serghei’s sisters, Zalina Petrivscaia and Marina Nichisenco, competed as well, but failed to qualify.
Two other Moldovans will take a shot at glory in London – Andrian Mardare and Dimitriana Surdu. The former will participate tonight in the javelin throwing contest.
