As the European Athletics Championships began in Berlin on Monday, Serghei Marghiev was the first Moldovan to enter the competition.
He threw his hammer 75.1 meters and qualified for the final on the seventh place. Marghiev will compete alongside eleven other hammer throwers.
Moldova is represented at the Championships by six throwers: Serghei Marghiev, Zalina Petrivskaya, Marina Nikișenko, Alexandru Mardare, Dimitriana Surdu and Alexandra Emilianov.
