Serghei Marghiev was Moldova’s best representative at the World Athletics Championships in London. He finished 8th in the hammer-throwing finals, IPN reports.
Marghiev threw his hammer at a distance of 75.87 meters. Poland’s Pawel Fajdek became world champion with a result of 79.81 meters. Moldova was also represented by Zalina Petrivscaia, Marina Nichisenco, Andrian Mardare și Dimitriana Surdu, but none of them managed to reach the finals.
Serghei Marghiev, aged 24, obtained the 10th place at the Olympics in Rio. He also participated in the 2012 Olympics in London.
