Ex-footballer Serghei Cleșcenco has been appointed the new manager of the Moldova national team, replacing his boss, the Italian Roberto Bordin.
Cleșcenco, 49, will make his debut as head coach on March 24 when our national team is due to travel to Kazakhstan for a playoff in the UEFA Nations League Group C.
Before Bordin, Serghei Cleșcenco was an assistant manager to Engin Fırat. Previously he was manager of Moldova’s U16-U19 teams (2008-2011) and U20/U21 teams (2018-2019).
As a forward, Cleșcenco is the all-time top scorer of the Moldova national team with 11 goals.
As a manager, he won the Moldovan Cup with Milsami and qualified the national U19 team to the European Championship elite round.
