Canoeist Sergey Tarnovschi has won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games. The 24-year-old athlete covered the distance of 1,000 m in 4:06.069, IPN reports.
”It wasn’t easy. I had a break of less than two hours after the competition in the semifinals. Character is needed to resist. For me, the most important thing was to get through to the final as I dueled with Olympic, world and European champions. In the final, it wasn’t easy either as it was a strong wind even if it was warm. I’m glad that I won bronze, as in Rio, and I proved that I deserve this medal. I’m happy that I won a medal for Moldova,” Sergey Tarnovschi told a news conference.
Basil’s Isaquias Queiroz dos Santos won gold with 4:04.408, while silver went to China’s Hao Liu who finished second with 4:05.724.
