Sergey Cebotari, the ex-employee of Moldova’s Post Office who was arrested for practicing forced labor, was transferred from remand detention under house arrest based on a decision passed by the Chisinau Appeals Court on August 10, IPN reports.
Contacted by IPN, prosecutor of Nisporeni district Iancu Zaporojan said the defense of Sergey Cebotari appealed the decision of the ordinary court by which this was remanded in custody for 30 days. The Appeals Court accepted the lawyers’ request and its decision is definitive.
Sergey Cebotari was arrested ten years ago following 16 complaints from persons who said that they were forced to provide labor to Cebotari, including by swindle.
Sergey Cebotari is the one who earlier informed about the scheme by which tens of parcels with anabolic steroids were delivered to EU member states and to the U.S. through Moldova’s Post Office.
