The Liberal Democratic Party’s candidate for the mayoralty of Chisinau Serafim Urechean presented the sketch of a project to develop the center of Chisinau on the platform of the Central Bus Terminal. Under this project, Mitropolit Varlaam St will be transformed into a pedestrian area, while the Central Bus Terminal will be transferred outside the city, IPN reports.
Serafim Urechean said the model of the Southern Bus Terminal will be used to create stations for the other directions. The buses coming from northern Moldova will stop in Stauceni, up to which a trolleybus line will be built. The project was partially implemented when Urechean was a mayor and when a trolleybus line was built up to Ceucari St. A bus terminal for the units of transport coming from the western districts will be erected near Vatra, while for those coming from the central districts – below the airport. Trolleybus lines will be constructed to all the bus terminals that will be located outside the city.
The candidate noted that the Central Bus Terminal will be demolished and a multistory car park with a capacity of over 2,000 places will be built in its place. The Chisinau Central Market will also be modified. “The Central Market is over 180 years, but it has never witnessed such chaos as now. Therefore, it will be reorganized so that the farmers can sell their goods directly there, without intermediaries. It will be an agri-food market,” stated Serafim Urechean.
As to the pedestrian are, he said that Mitropolit Varlaam St meets all the conditions for becoming such an area. From the Metropolitan Cathedral up to Ismail St, there are a number of public facilities that hold interest for visitors too.
The candidate called on the people to vote for the Liberal Democratic Party’s candidates for the post of Chisinau councilor and for him as mayor of Chisinau, promising he will depoliticize the local public administration.
