The Liberal Democratic Party’s candidate for the post of mayor general of Chisinau Serafim Urechean said he is ready to roll up his sleeves and solve the problems faced by the residents of Chisinau municipality. In the program “Friday with Anatolie Golea” on RTR Moldova channel, Serafim Urechean said he cannot bear the chaos and dirt in the capital city, IPN reports.
The candidate said he is apolitical and does not form part of a party. In the previous mayoral elections, he ran independently and was also elected as a non-party member and was always the mayor of all the citizens. He accepted to run as the candidate of the Liberal Democratic Party following a relevant proposal made to him because many people asked him to return to the mayoralty of Chisinau.
Serafim Urechean also said that when he was a mayor, a number of important things were done, such as the construction of trolleybus lines and roads, the opening of kindergartens, libraries and theaters. He now aims to remove the chaos dominating in Chisinau and to deal with a number of social problems, such as the lack of places in kindergartens, the destruction of green areas, the unauthorized parking places and others.
The candidate noted that all the employees of the Chisinau City Hall should be tested and a part of them should be dismissed because they were employed based on nepotism. The municipal authorities, including the district mayor’s offices, need to be restructured.
Serafim Urechean is the president of the Audit Office. In 1994–2005 he was mayor of Chisinau, while in 2009-2010 he served as First Deputy Head of Moldova’s Parliament.
