September's Communist Party assembly to focus on agricultural issues
The Communist Party's plenary assembly in September will be dedicated to agricultural sector issues and to the situation in villages, announced Communist leader Vladimir Voronin at a Thursday news conference, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We want to draw the attention of the entire country and of the international community to the disastrous situation in villages. If anywhere genocide occurs against the Moldovan people, we should first of all look at the rural areas”, declared Vladimir Voronin.
The Communist leader anticipates that Moldova will face a host of problems in the fall. “There will be problems with food security and there will be problems with the gas price and gas supply”, he mentioned.
Vladimir Voronin further criticized the government for the situation in agriculture and in particular the Agriculture Ministry for the way it handles the sector amid the ongoing drought. For three weeks now, says Voronin, the Communists have been trying to invite the Minister to inform the Communist MPs on food security, however “he is always busy giving interviews for the television”.
