A number of 3,144 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Moldova in September, a six-fold increase compared with August. The number of cases among children under 14 stood at 444, as opposed to 64 cases in August. Three cases of death associated with SARS-CoV-2 were logged last month, IPN reports.
The authorities reiterate that vaccination against COVID-19 remains the most efficient method of avoiding serious cases of infection and death. As during the previous flu season, it is recommended getting a flu vaccine and a COVID-19 vaccine at the same time.
“COVID-19 hasn’t disappeared. Given that the flu season started, the National Public Health Agency recommends obeying the main protection measures for the health and safety of citizens. Among these are keeping social distancing, avoiding crowded places, obeying the hand and respiratory hygiene rules, obeying sanitary measures at the workplace by airing closed spaces, wearing masks in health facilities, and going to the family doctor on the first symptoms, such as fever, coughing, difficult respiration, sore throat, muscle pain,” the institution noted in a press release.
According to the World Health Organization, 52,964 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 had been recorded in the European region during September 11-17.
