Sentience given in case of Taraclia accident that claimed four lives

The driver who last autumn caused a road accident with four deaths in Taraclia while driving under the influence got 12 years. The man was also banned from driving for five years, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the tragic accident occurred on the night of October 28, 2017, near Valea Perjei village. The inebriated driver who had two passengers in the car changed lanes and collided frontally with a vehicle that travelled legally. The impact was so violent that the driver and the three passengers from the other car died on the spot. The culprit and his two passengers were rushed to the hospital with different traumas.

It was determined that the driver had a concentration of 3.78 g/l of alcohol in the blood, which means he was heavily inebriated. The man drove even if he was deprived of license for a three-year period after he was caught driving under the influence. The 30-year-old man from Ceadir-Lunga town is under the evidence of a narcologist.

The culprit was also obliged to pay by 1 million lei to the relatives of the four persons who died in the accident and 18,000 lei court costs.

The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
