The Râșcani office of the Chisinau City Prosecutor’s Office appealed the sentence passed by the first court by which one of the K1 wrestlers was fully acquitted, while the other one was partially acquitted and was fined for “hooliganism”, IPN reports.
According to a press release, the prosecutor criticized the sentence as illegal and challenged it, demanding that the two should be given by 15 years in jail on the two counts – hooliganism and intentional serious injuring that resulted in death.
The Chisinau City Appeals Court is to set the date and hour when the appeal will be examined.
The incident happened on the night of May 19, 2018. As a result of an altercation in the parking lot of a shopping center, the culprits and a co-participant cruelly beat a young man who died in the hospital in several days. The co-participant is wanted, being investigated in a separate case.
The acquittal sentence was passed by the Buiucani branch of the Chisinau City Court on June 26.
