Moldova’s administration laid flowers at the Monument to Stephan the Great and Holy in central Chisinau, commemorating thus the 510th anniversary of the death of the Moldovan ruler, IPN reports.
President Nicolae Timofti, Head of Parliament Igor Corman and Prime Minister Iurie Leanca came together to the ruler’s monument and, after laying flowers, headed for the Parliament Building, where the MPs are to ratify the Association Agreement with the EU.
Flowers were also laid by members of the cabinet, MPs of the ruling alliance and people of art. The Communist lawmakers laid flowers separately.
On July 2, it is 510 years of the death of Stephan the Great and Holy, who died on July 2, 1504, after ruling for 47 years. He is appreciated for his actions to protect the country’s integrity and develop the state multilaterally and for strengthening faith by building a large number of monasteries and churches.
