Chisinau politician Iurie Ciocan, a candidate for a deputy position in the Romanian Parliament, has received campaign support from Senator Titus Corlatean. The former Romanian Foreign Minister, who currently chairs the Senate’s Foreign Policy Committee, expressed his endorsement for Iurie Ciocan, the PSD candidate in the december 1 parliamentary elections. The Romanian official urged voters from the Republic of Moldova and the diaspora to support a candidate who will represent their Romanian identity and Moldova's European future, IPN reports.
"At the end of November and the beginning of December, Romania will hold three rounds of elections, essential for the next ten years. From the Republic of Moldova, we have a candidate we respect and support. I personally support Iurie Ciocan," said Titus Corlatean.
The senator also encouraged voters in the Republic of Moldova to support PSD candidate for the Romanian presidency, Marcel Ciolacu.
"I invite you, in a spirit of Romanian identity and European values, to stand with the Social Democratic Party, the PSD presidential candidate Marcel Ciolacu, and Iurie Ciocan, who will represent Romanian identity and the European future of the Republic of Moldova in Romania's Parliament, in the Chamber of Deputies," declared Titus Corlatean.
Titus Corlatean currently holds the position of senator, chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Romanian Senate, and vice-president of the Social Democratic Party of Romania for relations with the Republic of Moldova. He has previously served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Justice.
Iurie Ciocan was officially nominated as a candidate in the parliamentary elections on october 4, during a visit to Chisinau by the leader of the Romanian ruling party, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu. Ciocan will run in constituency 43, designated for Romanians from the diaspora and the Republic of Moldova.
