The period before Easter is very favorable for the sellers of fast products as these products are in demand and they thus increase prices. Mushrooms at the market cost almost 50 lei per kilogram, by 10 lei more than last week and twice more than several weeks ago. The buyers said both the producers and the sellers profit from the fact that it is Lent and raise the prices of the products that are in demand in the period, Info-Prim Neo reports. ”The prices started to be increased when the Lent began. It shouldn’t be like that. Several weeks ago I bought mushrooms for 20-23 lei a kilogram. Now the price is twice higher. I now have to buy less,” said a buyer. The vendors admit that they raised the prices, but say the rise is insignificant. It is the producers that resorted to high price rises. The producers say they had to do it so as to recover the losses sustained the previous period. It was a time when the mushrooms sold for 18 lei even if the production costs exceed 25 lei, said a producer. The mushrooms got dearer not only at the market, but also in shops. The reason is the same – they come at a high price from the producers.
