The security situation in the region and also the consequences of the hybrid war carried out by the Russian Federation in the Republic of Moldova were discussed by Prime Minister Dorin Recean with U.S. senators Jeanne Shaheen and Chris Murphy. The interlocutors also discussed ways in which the United States can contribute to Moldova’s advancement on the path of European integration, IPN reports.

Premier Recean appreciated the constant assistance offered by the U.S. in implementing reforms, emphasizing the contribution of the American side in the development of key sectors of the economy, such as information technology and creative industries. “The justice sector reform is another priority reform that was also supported by the U.S. We will continue our effort on this segment and will fight corruption to ensure our national security. Creating conditions for attracting investors in various fields, including American companies, remains a priority,” said Dorin Recean, being quoted in a press release.

According to the Prime Minister, Moldova offers a number of concessions to businesspeople, being a safe country for investments. “We want the people in the United States to see our country as a country of opportunities, and economic agents to come to invest in the financial, energy and logistics sectors,” stated the official.

For their part, the U.S. senators noted the progress made by the Moldovan authorities in the process of implementing reforms. They reiterated their readiness to provide the necessary assistance to consolidate democracy and achieve Moldova’s European aspirations.

The sides also discussed foreign information manipulation, including Russia’s disinformation campaigns that pose a threat to Moldova. In this connection, the interlocutors underscored the importance of developing citizens’ critical thinking and training skills to identify disinformation and propaganda.
