The stamp of the Tiraspol Lyceum “Lucian Blaga” and over 114,000 lei were confiscated by the Transnistrian security forces. Now the institution’s administration can perform no bank transaction. In a news conference on February 7, the lyceum’s principal Ion Iovcev said he was returning from Chisinau with the salaries for employees when he was arrested together with the accountant, on February 5, IPN reports.
Ion Iovcev said that after the Transnistrian administration unblocked the lyceum’s accounts blocked earlier this year, it now confiscated the stamp. “Over the last three months, we have witnessed extraordinary pressure. They want to destroy our institution, but we still manage to resist,” he stated.
The director, accountant and driver of the lyceum were accused of smuggling and detained for over 5 hours. The six Moldovan peacekeepers who travelled to the scene to clarify the situation were also detained for a period.
The delegation of Chisinau to the Joint Control Commission said the illegal arrest and the search of peacekeepers in the Security Zone and their dispossession of personal belongings represent unprecedented actions within the current peacekeeping operation. The case hasn’t been documented, while the lack of reaction reveals the inefficiency of the existing mechanisms.
