Security Council addresses Transnistrian issue

The Supreme Security Council assembled today to discuss the Transnistrian issue, managing to identify a common position, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We discussed about the need to develop a strategic approach to the settlement of the Transnistrian issue. There was a need to identify a common position and the Supreme Security Council is exactly the right platform for this”, acting President Marian Lupu told reporters after the meeting. Lupu stressed it was important that this meeting took place and it was important that all the Council members, who represented all the fields of government, had a common position. Marian Lupu reiterated that Moldova was pleading for identifying a solution to the Transnistrian solution by means of the 5+2 format. The Supreme Security Council is a consulting body created to advise the President of Moldova. Its members include Prime Minister Vlad Filat; MP Alexandru, Head of the Parliamentary Commission for National Security; MP Igor Corman, Head of the Parliamentary Commission for Foreign Policy and European Integration; Liberal MP Mihai Ghimpu; Interior Minister Alexei Roibu; Anticorruption Center Director Viorel Chetraru; Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubco; Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca etc.
