The law enforcement and security bodies fulfill their duties and will combat such illegal actions as the referendums held in Gagauzia earlier this month, President Nicolae Timofti said after the February 25 meeting of the Supreme Security Council, IPN reports.
The head of state said they examined the reports presented by the minister of the interior, the director of the Security and Information Service and the minister of foreign affairs and European integration. “We established that the competent bodies do their job. They take actions to maintain peace and order in accordance with the law,” stated Nicolae Timofti.
He added that communication is needed with the people to inform them that the actions similar to the plebiscites held in Gagauzia are not for the country’s benefit.
