The asphalt collapsed and a hole appeared in roadway at the intersection of the streets Sfatul Țării and Alexei Shchusev following a water pipe rupture. Consequently, the people living on the given streets, about 30 yards, remained without running water.

Press officer of “Apă-Canal Chisinau” Nadejda Fotescu has told IPN that emergency response teams are working at the scene to remedy the situation. Most probably, the section will be replaced as the pipe dates from 1983 and is very worn-out. When the repair works on the pipe are over, asphalt will be laid.

The damaged portion was isolated. The drivers who cross the area are urged to respect the temporary road signs.
