The section of Columna St between the streets Mihai Viteazu and Serghei Lazo may be reopened to traffic in several days. The workers are laying the last stratum of asphalt, Info-Prim Neo reports. During an inspection of the street on October 24, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said that thought it grew colder the works on this segment of the road will be finished. He stated such works were earlier performed in November and turned out to be of a good quality. The other sections of the street will be asphalted in spring. There will be paved only the sidewalks and placed the curbstones. Dorin Chirtoaca said they will negotiate a loan with experts of the EBRD for repairing a number of streets in the municipality. The contract for a loan to the value of about €20 million will be signed by December. According to the Public Transport and Communications Division, more than 25 million lei was allocated from the municipal budget for repairing Columna St. The repair works started in June.
