The second stage of the mission of Frontex officers deployed to the border of the Republic of Moldova was launched. The Frontex officers are assigned and engaged in joint activities with the border police, both in border control and in the surveillance of the state border on the green segment, IPN reports.
The border surveillance activities involving joint teams were launched at the Tudora Border Police Sector, in the presence of the acting deputy head of the Border Police Diana Salcuțan and the Frontex representatives Zoltan Nagy, Director of Business Operations, and Matjaz Jancic, Director of the Joint Operation Unit. The officials appreciated the level reached in the relations between the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova and Frontex Agency. They also expressed their wish to develop these and to step up cooperation so as to support the joint activities, with the security of the EU’s external borders that start from the border with the Republic of Moldova being a priority.
“The joint operational activities are aimed at providing support, sharing the experience and practices of the European states in the field of border security, prevention crossborder crime and counteracting illegal migration,” runs a press release of the Border Police.
The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova in June ratified the Agreement with the European Union on the operational activities conducted by the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex).
