Second sanitary helicopter to start work next days

The Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure the next few days will provide the Emergency Service with the second sanitary helicopter, which was adjusted for transporting sick people, Minister Vasile Botnari announced within a working visit to the state-run company “Moldaeroservice”, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry, there were inspected 32 launch pads at national and district hospitals so as to make sure that they meet the flight requirements and security norms. The process will be completed in the near future and the helicopters will be able to land at all the district hospitals of the country.

Vasile Botnari said that Moldova hasn’t had an own air ambulance service for 20 years because there were no sanitary helicopters. But there are serious cases when the lives of people depend on how quickly they get to the hospital. Therefore, they insisted that this service be reanimated. The sanitary aviation service in Moldova is already functional and the patients from Calarasi and Cahul, who need surgery at specialized medical centers in Chisinau, can be transported by the MI-2 helicopter of “Moldaeroservice”.

The minister of transport noted that new helicopters will be bought for patrolling services and agricultural-chemical works. “Moldaeroservice” has seven helicopters, two of which will be used by the sanitary aviation service.

This April, the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure has offered the first helicopter outfitted for the air ambulance service to the Emergency Service.
