The second round of voting will be held in the municipality of Comrat because none of the candidates for the mayoralty polled 50% +1 vote. The preliminary data, with 100% of the votes being counted, show that independent candidate Nicolai Dudoglo gained 38.04% of the poll, while the Our Party’s candidate Serghei Anastasov – 34.01%. Thus, the two will duel in the second round, IPN reports.
According to the Central Election Commission, Alexandr Suhodolski of the Party of Socialists came third with 17.05% of the ballot. The Party of Communists’ candidate Serghei Stoianoglo won 6.78%, independent candidate Ivan Sary – 3.63%, while Andrei Ceshmedji of the People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova – 0.49% of the vote.
As regards the votes for the Comrat Municipal Council, with 91.67% of the votes being counted, the Party of Socialists won 5.66% of these, the Democratic Party – 3.48%, the Party of Communists – 3.27%, the Our Party – 3.1%, while the other over 70 candidates polled 3% and less.
The Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia is the electoral district with the lowest voter turnout – 43.8%.
