Second round of rerun election is held in Aluatu village this Sunday

The second round of the rerun mayoral election will take place in Aluatu village of Taraclia district this Sunday, December 3. One polling station was established there and the main register of voters includes 770 electors, IPN reports.

The Central Election Commission said the election contenders represent the Party of Change and the Party of Socialists.

For the elections to be declared valid, the turnout of voters should be at least 20% of the voting-eligible locals. The polling station opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 9 p.m.

After the general local elections of November 5, it was determined that the turnout in eight localities was lower than ¼ of the voters, including in Aluatu. After the election in this village was rerun on November 19, none of the three candidates for mayor polled more than half of the vote and the second round will be therefore held.
