The second international violin music festival “Queen Violin” starts today in Chisinau with a concert by France's Paris Jazz Quartet and French violin player of Romanian origin Florin Niculescu, who is considered one of the most talented jazz violin players in Europe, Info-Prim Neo reports. The concert will be given at the Palace of the Republic starting at 19.00. The festival's program for October 1 includes a violin music concert at the Organ Hall, involving the National Chamber Orchestra directed by Moldovan conductors Dumitru Goia and Vasile Goia, Steven Huang from the U.S. and Alexandru Ganea from Romania. On October 2, the Organ Hall will host violin and piano recitals by Gabriel Croitoru (Romania), Christina McGann (the U.S.), Marketa Frankova (Czech Republic), Anna Mazor (Israel), Steven Huang (the U.S.) and Margareta Cuciuc (Moldova). The festival closes on October 3 with a concert dedicated to the 70th birthday of the music high school “Ciprian Porumbescu”. The idea of holding the festival was put forward by brothers Dumitru and Vasile Goia, conductors and people's artists of Moldova. The festival aims to promote the Moldovan violins school that achieves successes on the international arena despite the faced problems, the organizers say in a communique. This year, the festival is held under the auspices of the Chisinau City Hall, the Embassy of the United States, the Embassy of Romania, the Embassy of Germany, and the Embassy of the Czech Republic.
