Second edition of European Borderlands Literature Festival to take place in Bucharest, Iasi and Chisinau

The second edition of the Literature Festival “European Borderlands” will take place in Bucharest, Iasi and Chisinau on June 7-12, 2007. The first edition of the festival took place in September 2006 in Lvov, Ukraine, the project being conceived for a period of several years and aims at strengthening ties between authors, translators, editors and cultural journalists from the countries from both sides of the new EU border. Within the event to be held in Bucharest on June 7, 11 writers from 8 countries will read their creations. Those 11 are Mircea Dinescu, Filip Florian (Romania), Nicoleta Esinencu (Moldova), Attila Bartis, Gyorgy Dragoman (Hungary), Vojislav Karanovic (Serbia), Alek Popov (Bulgaria), Tanja Maliarciuk (UKraine), Ilma Rakusa (Switzerland), Monika Rinck şi Julia Schoch (Germany). The festival will be afterwards held in Iasi (June 9 – 10) and in Chisinau (June 12), where the participants from Bucharest will be joined by Nichita Danilov (Romania), Iulian Ciocan, Dumitru Crudu, Vasile Garnet, Ghenadie Nicu (Moldova). Each author will be given the occasion to present short fragments of their creations, and translations of the foreign authors in Romanian will be read. The public will receive a notebook which will embody excerpts from the texts of both Romanian and foreign guests.
