Representatives of all ethnic groups living in the Republic of Moldova are proud of the fact that they are citizens of this country and Moldovans are proud of the wide diversity of cultures and languages that coexist. Statements in this regard were made by President Igor Dodon within the Ethnic Forum of the Republic of Moldova "Inima mea e Moldova". The President has assured, as guarantor of the Constitution, that he will do everything in his power to maintain peace and interethnic harmony.
The Speaker of Parliament, Zinaida Greceanii, said that tolerance and mutual respect between the people living and working alongside has become a calling card of Moldova. "This land was and remains the common cradle and homeland for daughters and sons of several ethnicities, while the multinational people constitute Moldova's greatest wealth", said Zinaidei Greceanii. The head of the legislature added that only through joint efforts can poverty be eliminated, migration can be stopped and economic growth can be achieved. "We rely on the support of people of all ethnic groups in order to achieve this goal", emphasized Zinaida Greceanii.
Elena Beleacova, chairwoman of the Committee on Interethnic Relations of the Council of Civil Society under to the president of the Republic of Moldova, said that over the course of 30 years, the Ethnocultural Movement has contributed to the strengthening of interethnic relations and towards respect for human rights in the spirit of tolerance and equality between all members of society. "The Ethnocultural Movement has contributed to the development of the conditions necessary for the rebirth, preservation and development of culture and language as a guarantor of preserving ethnic origins", said Elena Beleacova.
At the event, the Gagauzian bașkan, Irina Vlah, talked about studying opportunities of the state language for the representatives of ethnic groups living in the Republic of Moldova. In Găgăuzia, said Irina Vlah, state language learning programs in Russian schools are inefficient and need to be revised. The bașkan added that she wants to preserve the Russian language in the social-political life of Găgăuzia, but also said that she wants to expand the area of use of the Găgăuz language. "I want to believe that the current parliamentary coalition will show political will and will help us integrate into Moldovan society", said Irina Vlah.
