To avoid seasonal allergies in the current period, the people should avoid walks, especially between 9 and 10 am, in places where there are trees in blossom. If allergic reactions appear, it is important for the person to go to a specialist, allergist Iraida Serebreanski, of the National Clinical Hospital, has told IPN.

“If an accurate diagnosis is made, the treatment is more efficient. Going to an otolaryngologist and an allegorist is the first step that should be taken. Cutaneous and blood tests will be performed there to see if there is an allergic problem,” explained the specialist.

Among the symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis are stifled nose, sneezing and nose itching. In March-May, allergic reactions can be caused by birch trees, poplars, oak trees, acacia lime trees and not only. An allergic reaction can appear after the pollen reaches the nasal mucus. An inflammation as an exaggerated allergic reaction appears as a result. “We cannot get rid of fluff. Even if we stay in the house, it anyway gets into. When the person is allergic, the mucous membrane is irritated and discomfort appears,” said the allergist.

The children most often suffer from allergic rhinitis. In time, the symptoms become weaker. “The children are more often exposed because they go to play on the playground and near parks. They put the hands on eyes and the pollen easily reaches the mucous membrane,” explained Iraida Serebreanski.

She recommended avoiding walks near trees that can cause allergy, washing the face with running water to remove the allergen and changing the clothes after walking.

“If the diagnosis is allergic rhinitis, the allergist will prescribe anti-allergic and antihistaminic preparations and local drops,” said the specialist.

If seasonal allergic rhinitis is not treated on time, it can turn into bronchial asthma, allergic bronchitis and edema. This is not fatal, but the disease becomes chronic.
