Searches are being conducted at minimum 12 addresses as part of a criminal case started over abuse of office in the release of wheat from the state reserves. The case features former functionaries of the Ministry of Home Affairs and an ex-chief of the Ministry’s Material Reserves Agency, IPN reports.

The Anticorruption Prosecutors Office said that civil servants are suspected of having favored a business entity when providing wheat from the state reserves, which was exported. The national bakeries were this way disadvantaged. The profit of the beneficiary was estimated at over 10 million lei.
