The administration of the Balti-based University “Alecu Russo” is suspected of making illegal payments to employees in the form of bonuses to salaries. The damage caused to the budget of the education institution was estimated at 44,000 lei. The police on August 6 carried out searches at the university, IPN reports.

A criminal case was started over appropriation. The persons to blame face a fine of 10,000 to 20,000 lei or two to six years in jail. In both of the cases, these will be banned from holding particular posts or carrying out particular activities for a period of up to five years.
