SCP rejects candidate for acting head of Prosecutor’s Office of Gagauzia

The Superior Council of Prosecutors on November 11 decided to reject the candidate for acting chief prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Gagauzia Vasile Stoinov, who was nominated by order of the caretaker prosecutor general on November 1, 2021, IPN reports.

“The given decision will be transmitted to the caretaker prosecutor general for performing the relevant administrative procedures. The decision will be published on the official website of the Superior Council of Prosecutors and can be challenged in accordance with Article 191 of the Administrative Code in the Chisinau Appeals Court within 30 days of its communication or of the notification,” said the Council’s chairwoman Angela Motuzoc.

Under the law on the prosecution service, the order to name the acting prosecutor is to be accepted or rejected by the Superior Council of Prosecutors. Before Vasile Stoinov was proposed for acting chief prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Gagauzia, the post was held by Victor Cîlcic, who was named in June 2020 by the currently suspended prosecutor general Alexandr Stoianoglo.
