The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service received six firefighting vehicles from Scotland that are intended for the emergencies divisions of Causeni, Stefan Voda, Ungheni, Nisporeni and Calarasi. The firefighters staged tactical exercises to show that they can meet the expectations, IPN reports.
After testing the vehicles and exchanging experience during a week, 45 firemen and rescuers will be able to intervene with modern equipment to liquidate the consequences of traffic accidents and extinguish fires. Eighteen Scottish firefighters helped their Moldovan colleagues to handle the equipment.
The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service has cooperated with the Scottish representatives since 2008. In the period, Scotland donated to Moldova 18 equipped firefighting vehicles and four ambulances. The vehicles were distributed to 12 districts of the country.
According to the Service, owing to the donated vehicles, the Moldovan firemen were able to deal with over 1,000 emergencies that endangered human lives.
