Iulian Muntean has tendered his resignation from his role as member of the Superior Council of the Magistracy. This was confirmed to IPN by a Parliament spokesperson.
Muntean’s resignation is being processed per standard procedure.
Muntean was appointed to the SCM by Parliament on September 7. Two weeks later, it was reported that he was being targeted in an ongoing investigation on bribery charges.
While dismissing the charges as a “frame-up on the orders of the Plahotniuc regime as a form of intimidation”, Muntean had apparently withheld this information from the pre-vetting commission that cleared him for appointment.
