The Superior Council of Magistracy will hold a contest to fill the vacant post of judge of the Constitutional Court on June 15, starting at 9am. The date was set about two months of the announcement of the list of candidates for constitutional judge, IPN reports.
In its April 20 meeting, the Council set the criteria according to which the contest to fill the post of CC judge on behalf of the SCM will be held. These are the same conditions as those agreed in July 2019.
The Constitutional Court has six judges who are named for a six-year period. Two of the judges are named by Parliament, two by the Government and two by the Superior Council of Magistracy. The post of a judge dominated by the SCM fell vacant following the death of Eduard Ababei.
Sixteen persons applied to take part in the contest.
