Science Day celebrated in Chisinau

Science Day was observed in Chisinau by an exhibition that involved tens of researchers. In the event, the general public could see the results achieved in scientific research in Moldova, IPN reports.

In an event entitled “European Integration through Research and Renovation”, Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun said that research is a priority at European level and the integration of the Republic of Moldova into the EU will open up more opportunities for Moldovan researches. “Research should be a key area in the process of joining the European Union. The European Commission’s report on the opening of accession negotiations clearly stipulates that the Republic of Moldova should invest more in research and should bring our research level to that in the European Union and this means medium- and long-term perspectives, including additional funds,” stated the minister.

Dan Perciun noted that a new methodology for financing research was adopted and this ensures greater stability in the field of research. The national research and innovation program that sets down the direction for the sector for the next few years is to be approved. Attracting young people is very important for the sector’s future.

David Porcescu is a young researcher and a student of the Balti State University “Alecu Russo”. He studies engineering and car transport management. He brought to the exhibition a motorcycle with gyroscope he assembled himself and also presented 3D pieces that form a cub – a logic game. The student combines university studies with work as an engineer at a company.

Vadim Zubac is a four-year student of the Moldova Technical University. He studies car building technology and also works at “Nicolae Testemiţanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) as a laboratory tester. He said that his passion for engineering appeared in childhood. He exhibited a tridimensional printer that makes prototypes of objects for students of the USMF for these to learn to work with objects in volume. For operating doctors, prototypes of bones are made for them to see how to better operate to achieve the wanted result.

The 13th edition of Science Day was staged by the Ministry of Education and Research in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova.
