Science Academy Day celebrated on June 12 in Moldova

The Day of the Science Academy of Moldova (SAM) is celebrated on June 12, as its first academic and university scientific institutions were founded on this day 61 years ago. On this occasion a concert will take place at the National Theatre “Mihai Eminescu”. The vocal-symphonic concert “Homage to the Academy” will be based on the works of Academician Eugen Doga and correspondent member Gheorghe Mustea, Info-Prim Neo reports. SAM is the most important scientific institution in Moldova. It prepares researchers in 17 fields, embracing over 75 scientific fields. SAM has four science departments: Mathematics, Chemistry and Technology; Biology, Chemistry and Agriculture; Economy; Medicine. They include 28 institutes and scientific centres, as well as the Central Scientific Library, Central Scientific Archives, “Stiinta” Publishing House, the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography, experimental enterprises and other scientific structures. Fundamental and applicative researches of the SAM are conducted in mathematics and informatics, theoretic physics, physics of solid bodies, microelectronics and optic electronics, transfer processes in magnetic fields, geophysical and geological processes, physical and technical processes in energy, analytic and ecologic chemistry, theoretic chemistry, physiology and biochemistry, zoology, microbiology, botany, geography, ecology, genetics, medicine, history, linguistics and literature, philosophy, sociology, economy, political sciences, archaeology, ethnography, arts etc. In 2006, the Science Academy of Moldova was authorised to set up own education institutions to educate young scientists – a lyceum and a university, where 200 gifted children and 500 young persons have the opportunity to study.
